What to Pack for a Yacht Holiday in the Ionian

Planning a yacht holiday around Corfu, Paxos, and the sparkling Ionian Sea? Packing right can make the difference between a smooth, relaxing cruise and a week of “I wish I had brought that.”
Whether you’re sailing for a day or a full week, this guide will help you bring everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Clothing: Think Light, Breezy and Layered

You’ll spend most of your time barefoot in swimwear, but you’ll want layers for the evenings and chic touches for the shore.

Must-haves:

  • 2–3 swimsuits
  • Light cover-up or sarong
  • UV-protective long-sleeve shirt
  • T-shirts, tank tops, and shorts
  • One smart outfit for dining ashore
  • Lightweight windbreaker or jacket
  • Comfortable sandals and boat shoes (non-slip soles)

Pro tip: Bring a wide brimmed hat or cap for extra sun protection the Ionian sun is strong.

Toiletries & Sun Care: The Essentials

Saltwater and sun feel amazing but only if you protect your skin and stay fresh.

Don’t forget:

  • Reef safe sunscreen (SPF 30+)
  • After sun aloe or moisturizer
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Shampoo & soap (biodegradable if possible)
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant
  • Small travel towel (quick-dry)

Yachts have limited water use so pack wisely and use eco friendly products when possible.

Gadgets & Gear: Stay Connected, Stay Charged

The sea is peaceful, but your tech will still come in handy for photos, music, and keeping in touch.

Consider packing:

  • Power bank (very useful on deck)
  • Phone + waterproof case
  • GoPro or waterproof camera
  • Bluetooth speaker (small and respectful volume)
  • E-reader or favorite book
  • Headphones for quiet time

Avoid bringing laptops unless you really need them you’re on vacation.

Optional (but smart) Extras

These aren’t strictly necessary, but they’ll make your yacht trip more enjoyable.

  • Soft duffel bag (easier to store than hard suitcases)
  • Snorkel gear (some yachts provide it, but check)
  • Seasickness bands or ginger tablets (just in case)
  • Playing cards or travel games
  • Journal or sketchbook

Keep everything compact yacht cabins have limited space.

Minimalism is Key

You don’t need much on a yacht just comfort, flexibility, and respect for nature and space. Pack light, pack smart, and you’ll have everything you need to enjoy the Ionian in full freedom.

At 99Knots, we help guests prepare every step of the way. Still unsure? Just ask and we’ll send a full packing checklist before you sail.
